Michael Wolff grew up in rural Petaluma where he developed his passion for building things. After graduating from Petaluma High School in 1993 Michael started his first job in the construction field as a laborer, working for a small local contractor. He learned quickly and was made an apprentice carpenter within a few months. During his apprenticeship he had the advantage of a diverse training experience, working on everything from new housing tracks, high end custom homes and commercial office spaces.

While continuing his apprenticeship, Michael attended night school and weekend classes until he graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College in 1998. After completing his AS degree, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In the Marines he was assigned to a communications company and received specialized training in building communication networks.

In 2001 Michael left active duty and continued his Marine service as a Reservist. From 2001 to 2008 he worked primarily in residential remodeling. Michael completed a BA from Sonoma State University in 2004. In 2008 Michael’s unit was activated and deployed to Iraq. After 14 months, he returned home with the dream of opening Wolff Contracting.

Wolff Contracting was opened in 2010 and has been steadily growing into a prominent part of Sonoma County’s contractor community. Michael’s experience in the Marines well prepared him to lead and he takes great pride in the professional expertise of his employees and strives to build a supportive, family-oriented work environment.
